This blend of erythritol and stevia is an excellent natural alternative to sugar. Contains zero calories and zero carbs. Three times sweeter than sugar.
Stevita Spoonable Stevia is a dietary supplement. The sweet tasting substances produced by the stevia plant are called "steviol glycosides." These substances are (1) stevioside, (2) rebaudioside A, (3) rebaudioside C and (4) dulcoside A. The natural ratio produced by the leaves, in traditional stevia plants, is 60% stevioside, 30% rebaudioside A and 10% rebaudiside C and dulcoside. They all have a sweet taste, however, the rebaudiosides and dulcoside have a more sugar-like taste, whereas the stevioside has more of a honey-herbal taste.
Stevita Spoonable Stevia has a greater percentage of rebaudiosides and dulcosides; therefore, it has a very clean, and almost similar to fructose taste. To make it possible to package the powder in small individual servings and to make it easier to measure for cooking purposes, Stevita adds in erythritol, a bulking agent naturally extracted from fruits, vegetables and grains. Unlike other fillers in the market such as lactose, maltodextrine, F.O.S., etc, erythritol has a very high digestive tolerance and practically zero calories. The Spoonable Stevita stevia is available in box of 50 individual packets or in 2.8 or 16oz. jars.
Stevia Production around the World
The stevia plant currently is commercially cultivated primarily in Brazil, Paraguay, Japan and China. China is by far the biggest crude and refined extract exporter to the US market. The extract with less than 95% concentration of the sweet substances of the leaves ( they are referred to as "crude extracts) might have a bitter aftertaste because of the non-sweet particles mixed with the powder.
Directions Use as a healthy alternative to regular sweetener.
