The original research on this weight loss pill, published in the Diabetes, Metabolic Syndrome and Obesity Journal, followed 16 overweight adults for 12 weeks. When Svetol® Green Coffee Bean Extract was added to their daily routine, study participants lost an average of 10% body weight and 16% body fat. Over the course of the study, each participant lost an average of 17 lbs. Seven subsequent studies confirmed the metabolic activity and benefits of the Svetol® Green Coffee Bean Extract. (ref.1,2)
Svetol® is a decaffeinated green coffee bean extract (coffea canephora robusta Pierre). The selection of the Robusta variety as well as the use of green coffee beans in the extraction process ensures a well balanced, consistent chlorogenic acid profile and guarantees optimal bioavailability and efficacy. In addition, the risk of unpleasant side effects associated with caffeine consumption is avoided by ensuring a low caffeine content.
When administered in standardized doses, chlorogenic acid has been found to inhibit the release of glucose (sugar) into the blood stream. Scientists believe that slowing down the absorption of glucose into the bloodstream ultimately results in a reduction in the absorption of fat. Published studies also indicate that chlorogenic acid can improve the lean mass to fat ratio, reduce sugar absorption from the intestines, and help curb hunger by maintaining healthy blood sugar levels throughout the day. In addition, chlorogenic acid has been shown to speed up the rate of metabolic fat burning, and possibly reduce the size of fat cells†. Other reported health benefits relate to chlorogenic acid’s antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties†. (ref. 3, 4)
No, you cannot. It is chlorogenic acid, not caffeine, that helps with weight loss. Green coffee beans have not been roasted and contain high amounts of chlorogenic acid but relatively little caffeine. Roasting coffee beans to make coffee increases the caffeine levels but renders the chlorogenic acid inactive.
